Hamad Masoud Hamad

The Honourable Hamad Masoud Hamad is an elected Member of the House of Representatives of Zanzibar.  He is Minister of Infrastructure and Communication and Member of the Revolutionary Council of Zanzibar.  

He holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transportation. He served as a Lecturer and Head of Department at Karume Technical College.

Masoud graduated from Loughborough University in 1984 with an MSc in Water and Waste Engineering.  Within 12 months of graduating, he was appointed Director of Water and Chief Engineer of the Water Department of Zanzibar, a post he held until 1990.  During the following five years he gained valuable experience as the managing director of a consulting engineering firm in Zanzibar.  Then, in 1995, he became an elected Member of the House of Representatives and the Shadow Minister of Water, Energy, Construction and Lands. During his tenure he also served as Deputy Chair of the House Committee for Construction and Communication (2008-2010).

In November 2010, Masoud was appointed as a Member of the Revolutionary Council of Zanzibar and Minister of Infrastructure and Communication.
